About Us

The Los Angeles Regional Agency, also known as LARA, is a consortium of 16 member cities in Los Angeles County. The Agency was formed by environmentally conscious recycling advocates from the member cities. In 2004, the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) approved the formation of LARA as a regional agency whose mission is to assist members in meeting and exceeding the 50% waste diversion mandates of State Assembly Bill 939.

Since LARA became recognized by the CIWMB, the Agency has achieved a waste diversion rate overall of 57% in 2003 and 61% in 2004.

LARA holds quarterly meetings open to the public. Click here for a calendar or call (213) 485-3692 for more information.
