Since LARA became recognized by the CIWMB in 2004, the Agency has officially achieved 57% diversion in 2003, and 61% in 2004. The Agency has helped the member cities in communicating, implementing, and interpreting the program requirements of AB 939. LARA also offers training classes and workshops free to its members and at a nominal fee to delegates from non-member cities. Some of the topics offered the past two years are: Understanding the DRS (Disposal Reporting System) 1 & 2, Conducting Waste Hauler Audits, Diversion Program Monitoring, Grant Application Process, and Smart Business Outreach Program. Quarterly board meetings, usually on a third Thursday of the month are held and hosted by the City of Lynwood because of its centralized location to all members. The board meetings are open to the public. For more information: |
